Life management insights, strategies, hints, ideas, and tips from Dr. DClutter™.

I often read a small town paper online called the Daily Herald. In the opinion section, there is something called Sound Off! The purpose is for readers to share comments about what matters to them, ranging from topics about life in the city, politics and personal pet peeves, to compliments and complaints. I thoroughly enjoy reading Sound Off! and decided to offer something similar to you, my faithful followers. I love it!! In Sound Off! readers are encouraged to stay on topic, be respectful and the use of foul or obscene language, personal attacks or uses of another's identity to post are not allowed. The rules for what I am calling "Let Go!! with Dr. D. Clutter™" are the same. Every Friday is our official Let Go!! w/Dr. D. Clutter™ day. I'll post your advice, ideas, stories and thoughts. It'll be a place for you to share your life management and organization issues as well as discuss life events that inspire, empower or bother you. You can "leave it all here", as long as you follow the rules I discussed above. All comments will be reviewed before posting. So get ready, get set and Let Go!! w/Dr. D. Clutter™.

Don't Stay in the State

No I don't mean that you should leave the place you live. I'm talking about not staying in the circumstances that you currently find yourself if you're not happy, fulfilled or even challenged. Live for change and explore the possibilities.

No doubt!!

If you've decided to become an entrepreneur, congratulations!! Welcome to the club; you're among an elite and unique group. It takes courage, a great deal of effort and immense dedication to "buck" the W-2 world and step out on your own, especially in this economy. Two characteristics that will serve you well are the ability to ignore the feelings of doubt and fear. They're both destructive emotions and can also be real "dream killers". If you're able to remain positive, faithful and fearless, you'll be well on your way to being successful. P.s. This applies whether you're an entrepreneur or not. Use as needed.

One Way?

Is there always more than one way to accomplish something? Certainly!! Is there a best way to accomplish something? Of course!! Will you always choose that path? Probably not, but that's okay. It's called learning and without it, life would be pretty boring and uneventful. Embrace every opportunity as a chance to learn or experience something new.

Deflated?

Have you had an unpleasant experience that shaped your life? Did it motivate or deflate your self-worth and esteem? If it deflated you in anyway, make the decision to never allow anyone to influence your life in that way again. Never allow anyone to have more control over your life than you have.

Standing Still

What does standing still feel like to you? I don't mean in a physical sense but as related to your life moving forward. To me it feels as if I've stagnated and that's not a great feeling. What things are holding you in a place where you don't want to be? Identify and rectify, then move forward.

Memories

When you have remembrances of your past, do you tend to focus on the negatives or the regrets? Don't!! Experiencing them once should suffice, so why put yourself through it twice? Fight the urge to revisit the negative events in your life unless it serves to help you in the present or the future. That doesn't mean that you won't have accurate memories of your past or that you'll "rewrite" your history. It just means you won't dwell on the negative.

Chain of Kindness

We spread a lot of things in our daily lives-rumors, innuendo, germs and such. Instead of that, spread a chain of kindness. When someone does something kind for you, pass it on and see how far it spreads. Take it one step farther and spread kindness without prompting or being a receiver. See how far and how many your one act can reach and then spread that too!!

Good Samaritan

This is a challenge to you today. The next time you see a fellow human in need of assistance, be a Good Samaritan. Don’t look around to see who will help; be the one to do it. On a personal note, I thank the nameless Good Samaritan who helped me when I needed it and didn’t accept any reward. Your strength that day was immeasurable!!

Make a Difference

What’s your special gift or talent? Do you share it with the ones you love or even strangers, or do you keep it locked deep inside? People often think that in order to make a difference it takes wealth, power or fame. Sometimes, that’s true, but one person can make a difference. You could be the solution to a problem, but you’ll never know if you don’t look around your house, neighborhood or city to see what you can do and then do it.

Possibilities

Life can often be difficult as the daily challenges of life greet you each day. It’s easy to become discouraged, depressed and just plain tired of life. I challenge you to think about this word each time you start feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders: Possibilities. There are limitless opportunities for success, but they are often overshadowed by our present circumstances. If you allow yourself to think of the possibilities in life, that may allow you to go forward until you reach your goals. Embrace the possibilities!!

Who Am I?

Self-acceptance can be difficult to achieve. We spend so much time and energy trying to conform to the person everyone else wants us to be, but so little time trying to be the person we want to be. I challenge you to spend more time working on those character traits and behaviors that bring you joy and happiness and less on trying to conform to unrealistic goals set by others.

Just Ask

Do you ever have struggles, but pride or fear hinders you from asking for help? We are each blessed with certain talents, but also certain areas of lack. Don’t try to be a superhero. Just ask. Seek the help or guidance of a supportive friend or family member or, if the situation warrants, a professional. There’s strength in the power of admitting you need assistance and success in getting it.

Encourage Yourself

There won’t always be a cheering section to encourage you to keep your chin up or that you can do it. Sometimes you just have to encourage yourself.

About Me

Washington, DC, United States
I am Dr. Darnita L. Payden, Executive Director/Owner of Dr. DClutter™ Life Management, a division of PreciousOnes™ LLC. I have a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and over 20 years of experience working to help clients discover their strengths and talents. Having worked as a therapist, college professor, grief specialist and trainer, I have encountered in my journey many of the issues my clients may face. I have a sincere desire to help you find clarity, organization and independence in your life and environments. I know that life can be hectic, but I desire to help my clients bring as much order, peace and enjoyment back into their lives as is possible. What separates me from the norm? I focus on the client from a holistic perspective. I realize that most people desire a functional and an organized life, but may simply need support, understanding and information about why they have the habits or tendencies that have led to disorganization. I do not perform “quick fixes” or provide “one-size-fits-all” guidance, but I strive to provide strategies to my clients that will be life changing and useful for a lifetime. Dr. DClutter™ is a name well earned!!
